Tai Chau Chyi
Chau Chyi began his career with Philips Singapore as a Quality Engineer, where he then joined PH Hydraulics and progressed on as Operations Manager. Thereafter, an opportunity arose with Falmac Ltd, where he spearheaded the green field manufacturing start-up at Tianjin. Taking the role of a General Manager, he built 2 manufacturing facilities for Falmac and was also responsible for the entire P/L business in China.
Later, Chau Chyi joined Manitowoc-Potain Crane Group to turn around the Sino-French JV at Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu. Within 3 years, he not only turned the JV into a wholly-owned business, it also became a profitable one with a market leadership position. He also rebuilt the leadership team.
In 2002, Chau Chyi joined Newell Rubbermaid as a General Manager where he spearheaded the wholly-owned facility in Shanghai. He was later promoted to VP Operations at the group level and was responsible for 2 facilities in Shanghai and US (Milwaukee) respectively, serving the world’s largest retailers: Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes and Target.
Under Chau Chyi’s leadership, the manufacturing facilities in both China and US were earmarked as the flagship facilities in lean manufacturing and Operational Excellence, instilling culture of excellence and attaining world-class performance in Productivity, Quality, Service, Safety and Supply Chain Excellence.
